Your family changes quickly. One year they are small enough to perch on your hip, the next they’re rolling their eyes in ways that make you wonder when that started. Good photographs hold on to those phases in a way your phone camera rarely manages. They capture expressions you didn’t see at the time, the tiny details you want to remember, and the quiet relationships that matter most.
I create natural, relaxed family photographs in Edinburgh and across Scotland. Nothing stiff or over-posed, nothing forced. Just real moments, simple direction when needed, and images that feel honest, warm, and unmistakably yours.
A calm, relaxed session
Family photographs work best when everyone is comfortable. That’s why I keep the atmosphere easy and unhurried, whether we’re in your home, outdoors, or at a favourite spot that means something to you.
Children usually lead the pace, and that’s fine. A bit of chaos often makes the best photographs anyway.
I’ll give gentle direction when it helps, but I’m not here to stage a performance. My aim is to capture your family as you are at this stage of life, with all the personality that comes with it.

Rather than overly styled setups or props, I focus on connection. That might be a hand on a shoulder, a shared joke, a quiet look between siblings, or that unmistakable glance you give each other when the children have everyone talking at once.

Where we can photograph your family
Most families prefer to be outdoors. Edinburgh and the surrounding areas offer endless choices, from woodland to beaches to quiet corners of parks where children can run about freely. If you’d rather stay at home, that works beautifully too. Kitchens, gardens, and living rooms often create the most meaningful images.
Sessions take place in Edinburgh or anywhere in Scotland. Travel is included within Edinburgh and reasonably priced for locations further afield.
